Cal State East Bay Celebrates Honors Students
The university recognized 321 graduates at the annual Honors Convocation
Cal State East Bay recognized 321 graduating seniors for their academic excellence Saturday at the university’s annual Honors Convocation.
The ceremony, held at the University Peristyle in front of the music building, brought together several hundred Pioneer family members, friends and supporters.
Each student graduating with the distinction of cum laude (3.65-3.74 GPA), magna cum laude (3.75-3.84 GPA), and summa cum laude (3.85-4.0 GPA) received an honors medallion to be worn at their commencement ceremony in June.
Graduate music student AJ Walker accompanied by Huiying Yu opened the ceremony with a rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner,” and Associated Students Inc. President Hendrix Erhahon congratulated students and reminded them to keep chasing their dreams.
Following the ceremony, students, their families, faculty and staff mingled at a reception in the Redwood Grove.
