Forever Pioneer Weekend Oct. 19-21

Cal State East Bay to celebrate alumni, kick off 60th anniversary

Cal State East Bay's annual Forever Pioneer Weekend includes several events and opportunities, both on and off campus, to reconnect with the university.

Come one, come all to Cal State East Bay’s annual Forever Pioneer Weekend! Part reunion, part 60th anniversary celebration, the university has several activities planned Oct. 19-21 to welcome alumni and reconnect them with classmates and the university. This year’s activities include a 60th anniversary and Distinguished Alumni gala, a Golden Grad Celebration honoring graduates from 50 or more years ago, a kickoff champagne brunch, and several affinity programs and group reunions.

Off-Campus Mixers:

Young Alumni: Recent graduates (10 years or less) can enjoy an evening of board games, pool tables and breakfast for dinner at Chalk it Up in Hayward Oct. 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include food.

Fraternity/Sorority Alumni: Greek alumni can celebrate with a networking mixer Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at 21st Amendment Brewing in San Leandro. Tickets are $10 and will include food and one drink.

On-Campus Events:

Faculty and Staff Alumni: A free nacho party for staff and faculty who graduated from Cal State East Bay will be held Oct. 20 at 12 p.m.

Golden Grad Celebration: Alumni from 1961-67 are invited to meet President Leroy M. Morishita, view and share memorabilia and participate in a Golden Grad induction ceremony. A complimentary champagne brunch will follow. RSVP to Megan Gray at 510-885-4836 or megan.gray@csueastbay.edu.

Champagne Brunch: A networking brunch will be held on the lawn in front of the Music Building Peristyle at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and serve as the kickoff event for our 60th anniversary. Tickets are $15 but Golden Grad participants are free.

Distinguished Alumni Gala: The university’s official 60th anniversary gala, which will include a celebration of Cal State East Bay’s 2017 Distinguished Alumni, the university’s highest honor. The gala will take place Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. and honor four graduates — one from each college — for their professional achievements, contributions to society and support of the university.
