NBC Bay Area Sports and KTVU follow Cal State East Bay swimmer Liz Cocker's journey to the Deaflympics this month
After a record-breaking finish this past February in a 50-yard freestyle race, where Cal State East Bay swimmer Liz Cocker chose her signature butterfly stroke, she was invited to compete in the Deaflympics. Cocker, who shared her story with East Bay Today in March, has been training as much as allowed by NCAA regulations since then, and this month she finally heads to the international games in Turkey. Here, both KTVU and NBC Bay Area Sports retell the story of Cocker's journey, with exclusive photos from her life and interviews with her family.
