The Mercury News Features Alumnus Russell Davis

The Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy is a resource officer in Saratoga schools

In the wake of a changing national climate between police and citizens, Santa Clara County is boosting its efforts to create positive associations for youth about law enforcement. Enter Deputy Russell Davis, Cal State East Bay alumnus and the newest resource officer to join Saratoga Union School District.

“I want kids to know that, yes, we are law enforcement,” Davis told the San Jose Mercury News, “but we’re here to be that liaison between the schools and the sheriff’s office and show that, yes, there’s a lot going on with controversies with law enforcement, especially with social media, and we’re here to kind of bridge that gap and show that we can be one of them as well."
